A Birch Bay Day

This morning we woke up and headed to the Birch Bay International Road Race in Birch Bay, Washington, a small vacation town located a few miles south of the U.S.-Canadian border. We signed up for the 5k run back in February. It was overcast and windy but at least it wasn't raining. This was my first 5k and Bridget's second. I preferred to think of it as a "5k run" rather than a "5k race." The course took us right by Birch Bay with unbelievable views of the retreating tide, distant islands and the sensational smell of saltwater.

After the run we headed to the Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle where we had a hardy and filling lunch at Pike Place Chowder. The seafood bisque is highly recommended.

Following lunch we perused the market stalls and ended up with some fresh salmon, a few fresh veggies and a really nice boquet of daffodils before returning home.

After Party

Well, the bar exam is over. What a relief. Bridget had to sit for all three days, the two days of essays on substanitve law and the third day of ethics essays. I was able to get out of the first two days under the reciprocity rules but had to take the ethics part since Washington doesn't accept the MPRE.

The test results will be revealed in May and we plan to spend the rest of the day enjoying our return to normalcy. Tommorow Bridget heads to Eugene, Oregon for an environmental law conference and I head back to work. It feels so nice to have a study-free night, the first in several weeks. As a way of celebrating the end of the exam we are going to the Todd Snider show tonight at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard. Enjoy!
