Blanca or Bust

Earlier in the week we made our way to the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest for a hike to Blanca Lake. It was a foggy, overcast day which gave the forest an eerie appearance. We proceeded up the switchbacks over the roots and rocks.

After three miles we reached some lovely open meadows full of fall color.

Once we passed into the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness we came to Virgin Lake shrouded in fog.

From Virgin Lake we made the steep, muddy descent to Blanca Lake. We were the only people there (actually we didn't see another person the entire afternoon) and quickly found our lunchspot. As we got ourselves situated the fog lifted and allowed us glimpses of the peaks across the lake.
